Ministries

The Choir & Music Ministry consists of members of all ages whose responsibility is sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ, encouraging believers in their walk with Christ, and leading the congregation in the worship experience through song and musical expressions.

The Christian Education ministry is responsible for the administration and coordination of programs to facilitate spiritual growth and discipleship of believers into Christ-likeness. This ministry promotes spiritual development through Sunday School, Bible Study, VBS, New member workshops and seminars. The ministry also provides leadership to special day programs such as Black History, Christmas, etc.

The Diaconate Ministry assists the Pastor, congregation and community. These positions are appointed by our Pastor.

The Women’s Ministry provides biblical study material that will encourage servants of the Lord, challenge believers & unbelievers, and motivate all through fellowship, caring for each other, prayer, mission bible study, evangelism & worship.  Ministry meetings are held the 2nd Thursday of the month at 6pm.

The Inspiring Hope Senior Ministry is responsible for promoting spiritual & health wellness for our Senior Saints. Ministry meetings are held the Friday before the 3rd Sunday & followed by Breaking Bread With the Word.

The Foreign Mission Ministry is supported by the entire church family. SGFMBC avidly supports numerous missionary endeavors locally and abroad, such as, Catholic Charities, United and World Mission Offering and a Love Gift to support the work of the America Baptist Women’s Ministries.

The Pastor’s Aide Ministry provides supplementary support to the Pastor and his family spiritually, personally and professionally.

The Health and Wellness Ministry is responsible for promoting health education, including physical fitness, nutrition and healing. This ministries also hosts Annual Health Fair.

The Kitchen Ministry is responsible for assisting the church by working with event/program committees to provide refreshments or meals prepared and served with volunteers who are adequately trained in areas including safety and sanitation.

The New Members Ministry welcomes new members and helps them assimilate into the church family as well as connect persons, gifts, talents, and interests to a church ministry.

The Scholarship & Student Affairs Ministry provides scholarships to high school seniors who are members of the SGFMBC and who have participated in youth activities on a regular basis during the last two years of high school. This ministry also assists undergraduate students who are having financial difficulties, as well, as recognizes grade school students with financial rewards for academic performance.

The Usher’s Ministry is responsible for greeting and seating the members and visitors of the church as they enter the sanctuary.

The Young Adult Ushers ministry is responsible for greeting and seating the members and visitors of the church as they enter the sanctuary on Youth Sunday.

The Youth Advisory Ministry is responsible for ensuring encouragement in the Christian walk of the youth of Shady Grove. This ministry also inspires them to be their best while promoting education, discipleship and fun filled fellowship.

The Youth Dance Ministry is responsible for allowing outward expression of praise and worship. This ministry includes both a liturgical dance and mime team. It’s where passion and praise meet.

The Rooted Youth Ministry is a bible study catered to ages 5-18. Rooted is an in-depth study challenging participants to sharpen their knowledge & ability to share the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Audio Visual Ministry is responsible for setup, maintenance, coordination, and operation of the church’s audiovisual technology used during services.
